Light rechargable fan recommendation

I'm pretty sure I have to have a fan for two reasons.

If I am too hot I can't sleep.
I'm used to sleeping to the noise of a fan. It driwns out other noises that would keep me awake. Trail example would be mosquitos buzzing or animals making noise.

Can anyone recommend a fan?

In the beginning you may have problems getting to sleep, but after a week or two you will start being so tired you may even skip eating at night, even though that is just as bad as mosquito buzz.

Ear plugs for noises that go bump in the night. Definitely ear plugs for rain noise in a tent.

I think you'l get over these issues when you are exhausted and hating your heavy pack. Most do at least.

I second ear plugs they work Wonderful for quality of sleep.

There are cell phone apps that mimic those noise machine things. Find one with fan noise. Pair of earbuds and you're all set. Or get one now and set it to common woodland noise - bears roaring, mountain lions growling, owls screeching, frogs going BUD - WHY - okay sorry, had to throw a little humor in for entertainment value - but seriously, you could retrain your sleep noise patterns prior to hiking. Hot at night is an issue in some areas in mid-summer, but most of the time the mountains cool off at night.

If you are toting a battery charger there are fans that will plug directly into the usb port for power. There are tons of these out there. Example:

Earplugs will work well, Most can not stand the noise of rain on a tent. It is my favorite noise. There is nothing better then for it to rain all night, and an early morning sunrise to get started for the day.

I have to turn off any fans or air conditioners for me to get to sleep. I'm used to dead silence at night. I guess that comes from growing up in a quiet house on a quiet suburban road. Rain keeps me up (especially on a tin roof) as do peepers. Man, those little frogs can be deafening.

Any fan which is small enough and light enough to want to carry probably isn't going to make much noise or do much to keep you cool. I don't think sleeping with earbuds is very practical, not if you toss and turn at night.

For weekend trips, I take along this Coleman fan.
The fan is pretty light, but a set of AA batteries only lasts a few hours (only good enough to help the initial cool down at night).
But what is great about it is the fan blades are stiff (some of these "fans" use foam blades that don't move any air), but fold down for storage. I rigged mine up with some string to hang it for about a 1/2 hour when I initially go to sleep in the summer.

As a life long tent bound fraidycat, I made the leap to cowboy camping last year in Wyoming. What a liberating experience. You’ll get there.

You might try this fan. You don't need to hold it, and you can use it while it's plugged into your power bank to recharge.

I see that it will operate 2.8 to 11 hours, depending on setting, before needing a recharge. If you use it to fall asleep then the battery will be depleted in one night. Probably any portable fan will only last one night, or less, before needing recharging.
