    Default Crampons

I'll be hiking NOBO thru the Whites beginning around June 11th. My question is will I need to have crampons with me? Will there still be snow/ice on the trail on the north facing slopes of the mountains? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

You shoukd be all set by the middle of June. Bring a bugnet and longsleeve shirt, though.

I did a section in the Whites - Memorial Day weekend 2017. No consistent need for spikes. There were short stretches where they would’ve been helpful but < 2%. Also, no bugs at all to speak of - I never wore bug spray. Sun block though! Have a great hike!

2017 we had a lot of snow. This year not so much. Unlikely there will be any snow or ice left by June this year, even in the depths of the north facing ravines on Mt Adams.

At best enough snow for scenic purposes. I expect even Tuckermans Ravine will be pretty empty.
