Default hiking in north carolina with dog

Hi, I'm doing a section hike wanting to cover most of NC including the section along Tennessee, but want to avoid the Smoky Mountains National Park since they don't allow dogs in the back country. Do I need to just shuttle around this park or is there a parallel trail in Pisgah or somewhere close where I could hike with my buddy? Any advice appreciated. Leaving soon though, and I should have already figured this out!

shuttle or board it is the best options...

after that----you might be able to string a set of various trails and a bunch of road walks to get to the other side...

it would be a zig zag type thing...

Hiking around the Smokies isn't practical. You'd be best to simply start north of the Smokies and skip the southern end. Hike a ways into VA instead.
