    Does sprays like scotchgard hurt your tent or backpack cover if you spray them?

    If your looking for something to seal your tent seams, you need to find a silicone-based sealer such as this.

    I scotchgard my back pack, hiking pants, rain jacket and pack cover as well as my food bag. My tent does not need it.

    I believe Scotchguard was voluntarily take off the market some years ago over such concerns. I expect that the current product is a much safer formula. A quick search suggests that this may or may not be true.
