Campiste at the Whitney Porta: does it need reservation?

I am planning to climb Mt. Whitney, do I have to make reservation for the campsites by the portal? Are they first come first served?

If I understand it correctly, camp sites shown HERE marked "W" for the given date are 1st come 1st served.
It looks like there are two "group camp" type facilities that appear to always be 1st come 1st served.
