    Considering departing next year from Rockfish Gap, hoping to avoid the worst of the crowds, in mid-April, hoping to avoid the worst of the weather.

    "Greeter" successfully did that. You may want to shift the dates to align with opening of the waysides. Otherwise, it's the 2nd "100 mile wilderness".
