    Default Potomac River Footbridge Re-Opened

The footbridge over the Potomac River (connecting Harpers Ferry, WV and the C&O Towpath in Maryland) re-opened this morning. The C&O portion of the A.T. is considered passable, though is expected to be muddy with washouts.

Keeptryst Road, Sandy Hook Road, and Harpers Ferry Road are still closed as far as we are aware.

The Maryland Heights Trail is closed.

Many blowdowns remain in New York especially in areas north of the Hudson River; the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference volunteers have been hard at work but still have a lot of work to do to clear the most heavily impacted sections.

Other areas been northern Virginia and New York still have blowdowns, muddy trails and campsites, and other impacts related to storm damage and prolonged rains.

See www.appalachiantrail.org/updates for more information. We will continue to update this page as information comes in.
