Default What is the closest parking to the North side of Shenandoah?

Is Terrapin still around? The newest AWOL I have is 2015 and he was still active then.

Your best bet for secure parking at the northern end of the park is at the 4H Center : www.nova.4h.com/. A release form must be completed at the office prior to hitting the trail.

Terrapin is still around. The Mountain House is also a possibility. He's a few miles farther north, but only 200 feet the trail. I suppose you probably want a shuttle back too, I believe that can be arranged. I know there were several section hikers staging out of there when I passed through earlier in the spring. (Terrapin wasn't open yet, so that could have been a factor too).

That link isn't working. Try this one. It takes you right to the hiker parking info page with the form to complete.

If you include inside the park, there is really nice parking at about mile marker 10.5 Compton Gap. It's 1.6 miles to the North Kiosk from there.
Others have mentioned the nearby useful parking outside the park.
