Default Seeking Info On Arizona Trails - Sedona & GC

Wife and daughter are flying into Phoenix for 11 days. They are both avid day hikers and looking for info on where to go. Currently considering splitting time between Sedona and GC, but are open to other spots. Any info on trails in the general area will be greatly appreciated!! Oh, I'm not invited

ETA: they are going last 2 weeks of Sept

Add to that a Mt Humphrey's hike from the Snow Bowl and driving out to Apache and doing a day hike in the Superstitions. Buy an AZ hiking book or go to a "Hiking AZ" site.

You do not want to hike down into the Grand Canyon this time of the year due to the heat (>100F). That said, along the top of the south rim, there is a several mile trail ("Rim Trail) from hermits rest on one end to the South Kaibab trailhead on the other end (shuttle buses run the route for part of the year). Still will be hot, so hike in the early morning or late afternoon. To be honest, even Sedona will be too hot for my taste this time of the year unless you are hiking during the cool of the morning. You really want to stick to the higest elevations during the summer months.

Along the highways south of the Grand Canyon in the Flagstaff area are several national monuments that require walking to check out the cliff dwelling ruins and natural scenery so consider telling them to check some of them out.
