Good luck! The weather looks much better than last weekend.

The GATC will be out Sunday doing Trail maintenance near the Hike Inn. Say "HI!" if you pass them. I, unfortunately, will probably be flying to Philly.

I've discovered over the years that sometimes, the unlikliest people turn out to be very successful hikers, and likewise, I've seen people with years of experience and 10,000 dollars worth of gear, flame out in tears after five or six days.

    You never know.

So with that thought in mind, instead of speculating on someone's chances, which seems kind of mean, I'm just gonna wish the guy good luck and I hope he has a great trip.

It'll be in the low-twenties tonight up there. I hope he's ready for it.

Was it M.Smith that was only bringing a 40 degree bag?

    Good luck to them all.

I see on the weather that tonight, Sunday 2/19, will be a bad first night on the trail, with freezing drizzle tonight.

I've been kind of wondering about this myself. Haven't seen him mentioned in any of the trail journals, though of course he could have picked up a trail name early.

Surprised he didn't check in, though. He said he would and it's been almost two weeks, hasn't it?

I wasn't crying. It was rainy that day. (That's my story and i'm sticking to it.)

    Anyway, it was seven days.

He was put back on the trail at Woody Gap, last week, ca wed, 2/22. Looked like a real hiker in rain gear while wash was being done at the Hiker Hostel. He was also hard to read in person, but Jack is probably right, take LW's odds.
