In the Podcast I think they mentioned that it appeared that he never had, or needed any dental work done. Not a cavity in his life? I'll take that.

Thanks for the link. It was an easy listen.
Hope somebody is able to identify this person. And kudos to them for using the podcast to help with that.

Just read a news article on this and searched here to read some more.
Still no word, but a DNA company has narrowed down a region where his ancestors hail. Supposedly still researching.

Me too! It's 95% genetics. You can be a flossing brushing fool and still have a mouth full of fillings.
    It is what it is.

Fascinating, and sad. Definitely worth the read. This fellow really did leave no trace ... of his identity. My favorite passage:

Mason told him about a route and a map he could download to his phone. “I don’t have a phone,” Mostly Harmless replied. Describing the moment, Mason remembers thinking, “Oh, this guy’s awesome.” Everyone who goes into the woods is trying to get away from something. But few people have the commitment to cut their digital lifelines as they put on their boots.

Interesting and strange indeed. We may never know what really happened. In the photos he seems in good spirits and well fed. his gear is of high quality. Remind me of the story of Inchworm how also died of starvation in Maine. May both rest in peace.

I'm glad the story is getting out to a larger audience.
While yes, you COULD get lost down here on the FT...truth is that in that area you can easily walk to a store, restaurant or gas station.

A friend just told me he may have been identified. Not sure where they saw it. Think he reads reddit. I’ll link something if I find it.

Sort of surprised the sheriffs department hasn’t said anything. I’m sure they waiting on dna testing but seams like they would have released some sort of statement.

Fascinating article. He left for the trail w/o anything that could ID him, including a phone or credit cards. After months he still had $4K cash. He literally left his life behind in that apartment.

What kind of autopsy misses a gun shot scar that his friends described as large? What kind of autopsy of a cadaver in excellent condition produces an age range of 30-50?

until the police can confirm his identity I would assume they are not going to comment.

I don't know if I'm glad to hear the rest of the story or not , it's all kind of depressing. I'm glad for his friends and family sake.
He obviously had depression but have you seen the side effects of some of those medications a paragraph long and the last two are depression and suicide.

I didn't see cause of death, they're thinking starvation with food right beside him and $4,000?? If this is all true that is somebody that really doesn't want to be here.

It's a crying shame and I really wish this fellow could have found peace on earth.

I still kind of think that lady that was found in Utah over the summer ,that is what she was up to.

I agree with TN let the man rest in peace. His reasons were his own, if no crime committed no 9nes business.
