Default Green Mountain House Hostel A++

I had such a great experience at the Green Mountain Hostel I just wanted to give a shout out to them for doing a top notch job for the hiker community.

Ok so this is what ya get for $35:

    A free ride to hostel**
Rooms are semi bunk style meaning 2-3 beds per room. Quilts, and nice feather pillows.
    Laundry
All things required for cleanup from towel and shampoo to shaving cream and razor.
    1st coke is free
1st pint of ice cream is $1
Eggs and other items for breakfast
    Coffee
A home like environment with big community shared flat screen TV and lots of movies as well as cable
    Ride into town**

**I put this disclaimer here because the rides seem to be on a "when we can" basis. Not complaining! BUT if you want/ need a ride right this instant, there is a taxi or 2 in town.

Jeff owns the hostel but lives in Ohio, and his right hand man Duffy is on site during the hiking season. Duffy is a top notch, professional guy that was polite and keeps this place spotless.

This place is now my favorite hostel on the trail and for great reasons!

    A few rules:
Hiker shoes stay outside, trekking poles stay outside.
    No booze on property.

It's a great place. Call ahead because he fills up quick. Definitely one of the nicest and cleanest places.

I stayed there this year for two nights (zero day) and really liked it. I was in a two bed (bunk) room with a couch. It was very spacious. One night I was in the room alone. The owner was there when I went through and he spent a lot of time talking to hikers, which is something you don't usually see on the trail. While he made a point of telling me and a couple of hikers he doesn't pickup at trailheads, he told us to get into town, and he would pick us up anywhere there. Getting a ride into town was easy so no problem. He did promise hikers a ride to the trailhead when they leave. Duffy was there when I was there, but if he is there alone now (Jeff went home?), getting a ride to the trailhead may be a problem. That may be a point that needs clarifying.

As the other posters wrote, a really clean place and you get more than enough to justify the cost. It's a great deal.
