Default Week long trip in May

I am getting some time in May to hike. Thinking of AT in MA. or southern Vermont. Has anyone hiked durning that time there?

The Green Mtn Club strongly urges that no one hike during mud season (mid April thru the end of May) to avoid causing damage to the trail.

Last time I was in VT there were also signs posted on the trail asking that no one hike before Memorial Day for this reason.
