Default Weather in South in Mountains in Early March in 2010?

What was the weather like in the Mountains down south when you started in 2010?
Temps lower than usual or average or, rain, snow accumulation depth, etc..???
Details, what you dealt with where???

    When did you start?

What was it like in March, early March in particular, and where were you at on the trail at that time?

I also have the same question of 03' hikers if any are here...

I pulled a 20 day backpacking trip from March 1 to March 20, 2010---and did my whole trip in the NC mountains close to the AT.

Weather? It was hellish---see my trip report pics---

It was a tough March trip and unusual for all the cold and snow. See highlighted pics---

Around March 1 and the trip began in snow.

A snowy campsite on the TN side of the state line ridge.

    TRIP 107 035-L.jpg
    Deepening snow on March 3.

    TRIP 107 038-L.jpg
Somewhere in the mountains on March 3.

    TRIP 107 084-L.jpg
Leaving the high ground on March 7 and meeting Sgt Rock and his son.

    TRIP 107 110-L.jpg
One of my worst days of backpacking---March 10 at 5,000 feet in NC---in 30-40 inches of snow. It took me 3 hours to hike one mile.

    TRIP 107 155-L.jpg
Having fun on March 15 in a major snowstorm.

    TRIP 107 160-L.jpg
Spring Break?? Not quite. I run into these high school kids on March 15.

Point is, March can either be crippling or we'll have the Hottest March on Record (like we did a couple years ago---it was so hot and the bugs were so bad but I didn't bring a headnet).

And remember the Blizzard of '93? It hit on March 12-13.
