Default Shock cord inside poles of freestanding tent became weak

Remember someone here complained about the shock cord in his MSR Hubba Hubba NX poles went weak over the course of one or two years.
Now the same happened to my Exped Venus 2, after one year the shock cords were almost out of function. When taking a careful look at the cord it looks like the rubber inside partially broke.

Had been at the vendor yesterday, and they replaced the cords no question.
They said that "obviously there was one delivery of cheap Chinese crap" which might have affected several tent manufacturers.
Just wondering if more hikers here might be affected?
