That doesn't make sense. There's a large parking lot just down the road. Maybe a 1/4 mile?
For a shuttle, contact Ron Brown or someone else on this list.

Click Here Byron Reece Trailhead Parking

Call Ron Brown For shuttle he is first class A++

The Trailhead: You can either hike down to the car from the Byron Reece memorial trail OR you can walk the AT right up to Neels Gap and walk the highway down to the trailhead.

YOUR OFFICIAL WARNING! Tickets are issued to cars that are illegally parked in that trailhead. If its not a parking spot, don't park there. The parking lot fills up quickly and its a good walk to blood mountain so turnover rate of cars is slow. Best to get there early to guarantee a spot.

IMO, there's no parking at Neels Gap. Yeah, I know there's a big lot a quarter mile down from the trail, but its so popular, I don't think it can be counted upon. I'd park at Springer and get a ride back there. Best option is to finish at Neels Gap later in the day and stay at the Hiker Hostel that night, get shuttled to Springer the next a.m. Or, I guess you stay a night at the hostel, leaving your car there, then get shuttled to/from each trailhead from them. Call them and figure it out.

You cannot park at the store where the trail crosses, but there is a lot about 1/2 mile down the road (north). If you choose to park here, be sure to get there early if it is a weekend (Fri-Sun) or there will be no spots available. If you park outside a designated spot, you WILL get a ticket as Gambit said. You can then shuttle to your starting point and hike back to your car.

You can also park at Springer for free or at Amicalola Falls SP for a $5 fee. A shuttle is cheaper to Amicalola due to Springer being on a rough Forest Service road.

Call Ron Brown for the shuttle.

If you get there early, byron reece should have plenty of spots. That’s a great fun hike. Enjoy it.

Parking at Amicalola and getting a shuttle back is definitely a better plan.
