iPhone app that works like inReach?

Is there an iPhone app/service that works like an inReach? I hike where there is no cell service, and would like for my family at home to know where I am using the GPS chip on my phone. Anyone know of something that would work?

No. There is no way for your phone to send signals to a satellite directly. There are programs that let you piggyback on other people's cell phone signals to try and reach a tower through another phone's connection but everyone in the chain has to have the same app up and running in order for it to work.
