+1 on a simple tarp and ground sheet.. Lightest, cheapest, roomiest, fastest to pitch, most versatile. I probably wouldn't consider anything else regardless of my budget or weight limitations.
    I'm not lost. I'm exploring.

Borah bug bivy and a borah 7x9 tarp, a hank of 2mm Lawson Glowire. And a set of msr mini groundhogs.

Thats the highest quality shelter you can get for under $200.

Everything else id be looking for a used tent.

often you will find it on Amazon and EBay as well as Aliexpress.
While it does look and sound like a good value (ethics aside), experience has shown me that saving money on a purchase usually bites me in the butt when I have to spend more the second (or third) time.

The Fly on this tent is 15D and the Floor is 20D

Tarptent uses 30D fabrics on the Fly and the Floor.

Imagine how light a notch, protrail, or a stratospire would be with 15D flys...

Hmm...why haven't they thought of this?

Tarptent (or any cottage industry) would use the lightest material that has enough durability to enable them to create competitively priced and weighted products. If the durability were inferior, the company would quickly get a bad reputation and would go out of business.

This shelter is not widely available. Sold on Mass drop only and the latest drop has a ship date in September.

    Looks very promising though!
