    Default removed from discussion?

I was just browsing the new posts since my last visit...
came across the thread about leaving on a through hike while kids left at home with spouse.
    .... & I get a message that I have been "removed".
blocked more like it....because I can't even see the thread now. How is that even possible?
I'd get it if I had posted something vulgar or otherwise bad taste, or whatever....but that's not the case here.

So is this something that the original poster would have done because they didn't like or agree with something I wrote?
So it's possible to have private threads here?

I've just never seen that happen in several years participating inn several different discussion forums.

Are you a guy? I'm guessing that the reason you were removed is because you were a guy posting in the women's forum. I know it can be tempting to post on the woman's threads if you think you have helpful advice to give, but in general I think the best advice is for all the guys to leave it alone. They don't call it the woman's thread for nothin.

And if you cannot even see the thread now, I am guessing that was an administrative action.

I understand that you are feeling perplexed, but probably the best thing to do is to move on and delete this thread.

I am not sure what thread you are referring to.
If you could give me the url to this thread I can look into why this happened?

The thread and poll is still up in the Female forum. It's now on pg 2 of Today's posts tab because it aged. Gator (moderator) removed some of the posts and posted a keep out message to men. It's a "You can look, but don't touch" situation.

In the past I have been removed from a thread w/o explanation. It is frustrating and it seems like this board doesn't play by it's own rules. I read the replies that were removed and it didn't seem anything that should be removed.

    Perhaps a rogue moderator?

He can see the thread if he's not logged in. Don't sign in.

TJ is telling it like it is. Rules and situations are subjective.

Sometimes a female Female Forum thread starter or female poster explicitly states the poll is for females or male poster's opinions are not appreciated or preferred. When that occurs be sensitive by not pushing your male post or male opinion. It's a polite or not so polite way of saying Females Only Bar you have to leave. Leave or the bouncer will escort you out, physically if need be.

Honestly, I’ve wondered for a while if it would be better for the women’s forum to be an “opt-in” forum the same
way that the Non-AT Discussion forum is. That way it would still be open to all, but it would require that a user conciously decide to see it.

I like that the WB forums make the women's forum pink. Takes out the thinking that you should not be posting there.

Some forums require you to be a rocket surgeon or brain scientist to know you should not be posting there. WB makes it idiot proof.

"I like that the WB forums make the women's forum pink. Takes out the thinking that you should not be posting there."
Is pink now owned by women? Groups like the Komen Foundation have never refused male family, male biz associates and myself from posting money supporting pink signified breast cancer awareness and research or running in Breast Cancer Awareness Walks and Races. So males that post in the Female forum aren't thinking? That seems oddly sexist?
Some forums require you to be a rocket surgeon or brain scientist to know you should not be posting there. WB makes it idiot proof.

So now a male that posts in the Female Forum is an idiot? That also seems oddly sexist.
MODS have been clear many times about males posting in the Female Forum. What may help, if it doesn't already exist and not aware of it, A Female Forum brief explanation of content allowed in that forum like the UL, Buying and Selling, Straight Forward Forums.

    my unsolicited thoughts-

the female hiking forum makes sense for posts about issues specific to females.

when it veers into "i have a question that is non gender specific and anyone can answer, but this is the female forum and i only want answers from women" it strikes me as needlessly divisive.

Not all have come to the same perspective not even the MODS. If it is to be enforced males can't post to the Female Forum it might be easier if when becoming a WB member require a gender designation. Males are excluded. Make it part of the software. What's going to happen next though is someone is going to claim gender discrimination. Be civil and conscientious of all and it's easier for us to play nicely.

As one censored several times, to be fair to the MODS they most often display patience offering guidelines and warnings before personal censorship. When we don't he'd these guidelines and warnings is when we get censored.

My experience was quite the opposite, no notice, warning even when I requested why, crickets.

i personally find these things are about context. what else did the mod have to deal with, from you or from others, that day/week/whatever.

also whether it was something the mod just happened upon or if someone reported the post. and likely who it was who reported, if so.

also some forums have specific mods that seem more quick to pull the trigger than others.

Apparently plenty. With this latest one I take it as if the OP states only a female perspective is wanted, then that's all that should be provided, however if no such request is made either gender could reply though males should be mindful that the forum is really for women.

I do wonder if I could post in that (and not get deleted) about my wife's perspective on that as she has no intentions about being a member of any message board, but it's a subject we have discussed.
