Hi, really uncommon snow levels this year on Colorado Trail
Snow unpassable segments 6,7,8,9,12,13,15,16,20-28....We´re arriving in Denver this week, for 12 days hiking.
Segments 1-5 is too short for these 12 days. Any ideas for a Plan B?

Turn around and hike back to Denver. Going in opposite direction on same trail gives a totally different perspective.

I'm trying the best I can not to say anything. Mama always said, "if you ain't got nothing good to say, don't say anything at-tall."
But I do have a good joke: "there are day hikers, section hikers, and thru-hikers..."
(okay, I'm going to shut up since I don't have anything good to say).

Okay, I'm going to say it. If you can't handle some snow...don't go there!

Definitely agree with your Mama; she's a wise lady. Continue following her lead....
Are the San Juans in similar conditions? If not, get a one way rental to Pagosa Springs or Durango. Hit the CDT through the Weminuche Wildnerss.
If Colorado is totally snowed in...
Go to New Mexico. The Pecos Wilderness will entertain you for several days. Sanme one way rental. Or change your tickets.
Next time, plan to be in the mountains in September.

PS:
There is no snow in the Great Divide Basin. Water should be plentiful this time of year. It's unlike anything else you'll find in North America.
Oh, hike the CDT in the Great Divide Basin.

Hiking in snow is wonderful and doing it in spring/summer temperatures is even better. Just pack snowshoes and adjust your daily mileage estimates.
