In Connecticut I met a thru hiker several weeks ago who said that NY water was pretty scarce. Last week the shelter water source at Telephone Pioneers Shelter was completely dry.

Just work out your schedule to stay there a night when rain is predicted, then the only problem you'll have with the water source is crossing it to get back to the trail .
