First 30 Shoes
Looking for footwear suggestions, what worked for you slugging through the water from the beginning to the Interstate

I used a pair of now out of production, made for special ops, mid height (5-6 inches) New Balance. Not waterproof, designed to drain well. I prefer a mud height as I feel the extra lacing helps prevent the shoe from getting sucked off by the muck. It’s happened.
I recognize people also hike regular low height shoes.

I’ve done the mud sections in big cypress with old school converse high tops. They don’t get pulled off in the mud easy. Also the canvas doesn’t allow for much water/mud weight. Both times I was on a thru hike and I threw the shoes out at the I-595 rest stop.
