Default A Taste of India brand quick meal

I picked up this brand of instant spiced rice with raisins because they were on closeout at the grocery store. Anyway, I tried it for lunch today and I think it would make a good backpacking meal. The packaging us a bit bulky but you could easily throw out the box if you're not going to eat out of it.

Headed back to food cat to buy up the rest of the closeout stock

15 years ago Tasty Bites meals were all the rage. Heavy of course. And made in India. I carried these heavy pouches on too many trips for too long. Might as well carry canned foods.

Then I wised up and started dehydrating these meals at home.

Do any Taste of India meals come already dehydrated????

I agree, the ready to eat lentils or chickpeas are too heavy, but the rice meals are comparable in weight to any of the other prepackaged meal brands.

I like to prep most of my own food but I'm gonna stock up on these while they're cheap so I have a grab and go option.

Another brand I found yesterday is Kitchens of India. The white pumpkin milk pudding is fantastic and could be eaten cold straight out of the pouch.
