    Default Mt Katahdin to Monson

How long does it take to get to Monson from Katahdin on a SOBO? I am just looking for a good estimate. Thanks.

Between four and ten days depending on your hiking speed and style.

Unless your in Uber shape, figure the full 10 days from Abol Bridge. Add another 2 days to go up Katandin. One day to climb it, one day to recuperate.

If your used to western trails, keep in mind the AT and Maine in perticular are much, much more physically demanding.

The food drop services makes the HMW treck much easier as you don't have to lug the full 10 days of food to begin with.

Arrived at Katahdin on the 5th day, does that meant the summit?

SoBos leaving Baxter were hitting Shaw's in about 7 days last season, 8 if they stopped at WHL.

6-7 days Monson to Abol bridge.
    1 day to Katahdin Camp.
    1 summit day
I've done it twice; I would tend to go slow and enjoy this lovely section.

It's a horrible shame that so many people rush this section because they are sick of thru hiking...
