    There is a story about hungry monkeys taking over a town due to the lack of tourists feeding them. Will this happen with the bears on the AT?

    The only solution at frequently used spots is going to be either install bear cables (or bear boxes) at the location, or start requiring the bear canisters on the full length of the AT.

    Sure, this particular camp spot may not be closed at this moment... but it will happen again.
    Just a matter of time before GSMNP has a camp site closure caused by campers NOT following regulations and utilizing bear cables properly.
