    Default Hiking and social distancing

A hiker can still hike the trail and practice social distancing. If applied to a thru-hiker this means you never go town, and all your resupplies are prearranged to be dropped of at a trailhead for you without any close interaction. This also assumes the person who drops off your resupply practices social distancing while gathering and packaging your resupply. It can be done, it is just a logistical challenge. Still, a person can be on the trail and never closely interact with another person. There are few places on the PCT, for example, where a person cannot step off trail when encountering another hiker to allow passing one another and maintaining social distancing.
