Default Reflectix and tape to make cozy

I need to make a cozy for a Stanco 1200 grease pot and thought I would see if anyone has leftover materials to make one. Pot dimensions are 5.625" diameter and 4" height, so I would need one strip 18" x 4" and another 12" x 6" (or just one piece 6" x 30"). Need the tape to secure the bottom to the sides and to secure the 4" seam. $10 shipped sound fair?

I have made pot cozys by taking a reusable shopping bag, that has the reflective inner layer, for carry grocery items that need to remain cold on the trip home. You have enough material in a typical bag to cut out several cozys. You can either sew them into the needed shape, or use duct tape, keeping the reflective foil on the inside. As a bonus, the outer fabric acts as a non-slip, pot holder for picking up the pot. You can get these bags at just about any major grocery store for a $1.

Wow, that's a great idea. I think I have one of those somewhere around the house.

I make soda or beer can cozys as well with reflextex with flip top lid. The cap is attached so you just flip a finger to flip the lid over take a drink then flip back over with one finger, closes tightly. Keeps drinks colder longer and keeps bees out of your drink. I'll send you one of these as well.

My first pot cozy was with reflectix but it didn't wear well. Was like bubble wrap that list its pop. My second version uses silver mylar coated flexible foam from an auto windshield sunscreen sealed with aluminum tape. works great.

I found I can run reflectrix through my sewing machine to make coozies and rehydration envelopes. I thought the mylar would tear right out, but they hold up just fine.

Ditto on the same results with the windshield reflector. It is slightly less weight also and my results looked more professional for some reason which was a real "fluke" for me.

I just found one of these during my move to my new house amongst all my hiking gear I'd forgotten about. It's in gold color i guess I'll be making cozys and rehydrater envelopes with " Bling".

My reflector is a nice royal blue.Easy to work with and light weight but quite effective. Here it is on a Foster's F Keg from Trail Designs with Caldera Cone, lighter,Starlyte Stove, and a few odds and ends in it but the whole rig weighed in under 9 oz.The Cone carrier serves as a holder for the freezer bag and the other half makes a good mug and measuring cup.20200331_131224.jpg

I got a chance to put to use the cozy that you sent me and it worked out great. Many thanks. For the past year or so I have been "waiting to get in shape" so I could go backpacking again. Finally, I just loaded everything up on Thursday and drove to the trailhead where the AT crosses FS Road 42 (in Georgia). I like solitude, so I hiked the Benton Mackaye "backwards" to the terminus of the BMT. It was my dog's first camping and hiking trip and he had a blast. We camped 2 nights. Did 3.4 miles out and 3.4 miles back. In out-of-shape 60 yr old miles, that's like 25 miles total LOL. It was great to get out.
