I figured I could start a new thread... Or just respond to this one. I finally did do that section hike that I described above just a few weeks ago. Amicalola --> Dicks Creek from 9/24-30. Here's what it looked like:

Day 1 (half day): Amicalola --> Black Gap Shelter (7.3 mi; +2,611.2, -1,218.2).
Day 2: Black Gap Shelter --> Gooch Gap Shelter (17.3mi; +3,398.0, -3,835.6).
Day 3: Gooch Gap Shelter --> Neels Gap (15.6mi; +3,756.6, -3423.2).
Day 4: Neels Gap --> MM 44.7 (13.4mi; +3,394.4, -3,020.3).
Day 5: MM 44.7 --> Trey Mountain Shelter (13.2mi; +3,585.6, -2,902.6).
Day 6 (three-quarter day): Trey Mountain Shelter --> Dicks Creek Gap (11.1mi; +2,408., -3,944.2).

On my full days (Day 2-5), that generally meant hiking from around 6:30-7am until 3-3:30pm. Perhaps a little earlier or a little later, but that's a reasonable average.

The ask: Seems that with 7 full days (as opposed to ~5.25 days) at my pace, Dicks Creek Gap --> Fontana Dam would be a reasonable 7-day hike, right? (Thoughts? Suggestions?)

Thanks for the guidance, all. This is an enjoyable community to be a part of!
