Safe/Free parking in Damascus?

I'm looking for a safe place to park in Damascus for 3/7/10 days. Any free recommendations? Any hostels that will let you park if you stay there? Thanks for any advice.....

The lot across from the library is what I used last year. It was free; just need to tell the police you will be parking there, and your timeframe.

Yep as others have mentioned, call the police to let them know, then you can park in the gravel lot in front of the library. I did that 3 years ago for about 4 weeks on trail, no problem.

The library, like others have said. However, calling the police is harder than it seems, as when I called, it rang and rang and fwd me to another police dept. It rang a couple times and I hung up. My car was fine, and I felt it was safe there. The library was open at the time though (very nice bathrooms btw), not sure if it's open or if there's regular traffic around it during these times.
