Default Need GPS assistance & information...

My brother gave me an EasyOwn Model:G7001 GPS Navigation unit that he picked up at a yard sale.

The unit is in good shape, and all the features of the unit are working, except for the GPS map function, due to the data files on the micro memory card being corrupted. I have been trying to locate the product support website for this unit, so that I download and restore the corrupted files., but without any success.

Has anyone used this GPS and experienced the same problem? Where can I find the needed files to restore the unit to proper operation?

Any suggestions, and/or help, would be appreciated.

That thing is an orphan dinosaur.
Like you, I couldn’t find any sources for the software.
The only solution seems to be finding a working unit and buy it.
A smart phone and a decent navigation app, either for use in a vehicle or hiking is a simple solution.
    Good luck.

    Thanks for your reply!

I actually tracked down the manufacturer in China, (of course!), and sent them an email. Their website features newer versions of the EasyOwn GPS line, but they claim that they never heard of the model G7001! Waiting on another reply to my 2nd email.

Got any ideas on what open source GPS databases might work in it?

Assuming they follow the Garmin (probably a big assumption) you might try downloading a map from GPSFileDepot to see if it works on the EasyOwn. You an also try an Open Street Map (OSM) which works well on Garmin (instructions and references at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/...armin/Download)
