Haven't used in over a year, but it always worked fine. I just switched to InReach for texting ability. You do need to pay for the service in order to use it. Check out SPOT's website for pricing.
Just asking $10 (Venmo, PP F&F, Zelle) to cover priority shipping and a trip to the post office.
