Default Straight Outta Quarantine hike 2020!

We had planned to hike the HST to Whitney then a JMT nobo starting Labor Day weekend. On day five we were on Whitney and forced to exit at the portal due to fire conditions...I swore I’d never do the hike down to WP again......just as miserable as I recall from 2015. After getting home to Fl we got a wild hair to check logistics for the wind river high route late September. A few days later we were in Pinedale, WY via Jackson for $250 round trip. From there it’s a blur...we spent 7 days doing Alan’s route from GR TH to BS TH. The most spectacular trip of my life! However not for the faint of heart as my sphincter stayed puckered up! I’d say more miles bouldering and rock, ice hopping than hiking much less no trail. For someone wanting more than simply putting one foot in front of the other......GO!!! Think Skurka’s route is next! By far my new favorite range....

Very happy with the 3400 junction! Stayed bone dry though long periods of sleet, rain, hail and snow! comfortable with 8 days food and bear can on HST and very comfortable with 7 day food carry with out can on WRHR. Definitely a great addition for longer carries where my burn wouldn’t handle the load.

Thanks that's good to know about the pack ,as I'll be picking one up shortly. That's good to know it'll handle that weight and still be comfortable . What about the side pockets are you able to reach your water bottle with ease? And probably 40ish lbs max for this pack?

I’ve got shoulder issues so no pack can I reach side pockets. I really like the shoulder strap drink pouch from Justin’s UL. Works well with 20oz Gatorade bottle and keep 1l in side pocket to refill the 20oz with. Really like the HMG phone pouch for shoulder strap as well.

    Glad somebody finally woke up.
    You’re welcome!
    Now. Don’t tell another soul!
Wyoming shall not become like California!
I am super envious of the airline price to Jackson, WY. I searched all summer and couldn’t find a decent price. Maybe my dates were the problem.
    You’ve only scratched the surface!
