    Default Shenandoah Loop - 11/19 - 11/21

Heading to SNP next week to do this loop over 2 1/2 days - https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/v...onal-park-loop

The plan is to tent camp at Rock Spring Hut. Day 2 hike the AT to Nicholson Hollow Trail (anyone have a camping suggestion for Corbin Hollow Trail), over Old Rag and back to the trailhead at Weakley Hollow Road.

If anyone wants to join, let me know. I should be at the trailhead early afternoon on 11/19. If not, I will post pics and/or video for those who can't get away.

The "book" says there are tent sites near the hut. Water down a steep trail. I seem to remember going down there for water and wished I hadn't had to. I'd read the comments on the Alltrails description for possible other tent sites. Since much of that loop is going steeply up or down, your choices are limited. This looks like a tough hike, so you better hope for good weather or it could be real tough.

Note that the Old Rag parking at 643 fills up quickly - get there early: https://twitter.com/ShenandoahNPS/st...17641004093440
The tent sites at Rock Spring hut are not bad.

There is also a small lot, maybe 10 spaces, on the parkway just about a mile north of Big meadows on the left. rock Springs Hut is only a mile in from there. This is also a trail head for a popular trail on the east side of the road. Also you could park in Big Meadows Campground/lodge area and catch the AT there to Rock Springs Hut. Probably 12 - 15 official campsite at RSH and the spring is very reliable.
