It was a guest's bed. She was a guest. They were a guest. It was a guest. PC avoids censorship.

Looks like it would be an interesting article. Unfortunately, it wants me to subscribe before the site will let me read it.

Outside wilderness areas in states like Alaska that explicitly permit entry into private cabins for life threatening emergencies, "I was cold" isn't a legal defense to a crime....

I suspect that if you pulled the site up the first time with no ad blocker, you'd have been fine.
With an ad blocker, it presents you an option to subscribe. If you then whitelist the site, you get a notification indicating you've used your free article limit.

Man who said he was hiking the Appalachian Trail found sleeping in a motel guest's bed in Upper Tulpehocken Township

A man told state police he got cold while hiking the Appalachian Trail and broke into a motel room in Upper Tulpehocken Township for a cozy night’s sleep.
Police were called about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a woman returned to her guest room along Route 183 near Strausstown and discovered a man, later identified as Robert E. Sloand, 65, sleeping in her bed.
Bethel Township police responded and detained the man until state police, who have jurisdiction, arrived from the Hamburg station.

Sloand was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing and loitering and prowling at night. He was committed to Berks County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail after arraignment before District Judge David E. Glass in Reading Central Court.
Sloand, who is from Carbon County, said he was trying to hike his way to Harpers Ferry, W.Va., by way of the Maine-to-Georgia trail, parts of which are along the line separating Berks and Schuylkill counties. He said he got cold and was trying to get warm, troopers said.Facebook

Somehow I have a feeling that the gentleman in question was looking for "three hots and a cot" and got it at the expense of the taxpayers.

Thanks, WMR, for posting that. I was pretty curious about what happened. So now I know not to break into a hotel room for a good night's sleep.
