correction: he was on trail for 4 weeks (not one).

He came upon a hiker at the Fontana Dam shelter...a hiker who said he didn't want to be on camera and didn't like youtubers. He also apparently made unusual/paranoid-sounding statements about people following him and that his demons might make him hurt someone....or something to that effect. Will found this concerning and called law enforcement to report that concern, but that (also apparently) went nowhere (transferred to two or three different jurisdictions, and no action as far as he could tell).

He also notes in the video posted above that someone sent him a link to the hiker's social media which made Will think that the guy might be holding a grudge for reporting him (to law enforcement, but also to everyone on the internet) and that he was getting back on trail. Will and his family are, probably justifiably, concerned about that (as well as the weather).

The two SoBos doing an actual winter thru are still on trail.

Between drama and weather it looks like a good time to pull off trail for at least a couple weeks. I wouldn't cancel my whole thru hike bc of a bad apple in the first 200 miles.

Yeah, the Somkies can be rather fickle...
I've been hiking in January during an unusual warm spell with hi/lo of 60's/40's, and more than a foot of snow can fall on into April.
