    Default Unidentified AT Hiker

Found this guy on a hike yesterday afternoon.
    Wondered if anybody knows him.

We judged him to be an AT hiker by his apparel and general appearance,
although he was off-trail at the time.
    Gear appeared to be intact.

Really concerned about him. Very emaciated.
He was immobile and unresponsive to our questions.
We could not detect a pulse.

Maybe someone knows who he is, and could inform his family?
We wanted to help him in some way, but didn't know what to do.

Also saw this neat looking holly-like shrub with a large spray of yellow flowers in our visit to the Knoxville Botanical Garden.

A quick google image search suggests you're right. So not a holly, I guess.

What? No comment on the emaciated hiker????

In some respects, I would agree. But pack size seems a little too ... normal.

I think I saw several reports of Woody on the SKT web site (Slowest Known Time).

I thought it was you who posted this on FB ! How many Illabelle hikers can there be? This guy looks like he could (or has) toughed out anything the trail gives him!

Yep, it's me. And the Facebook post has over 300 responses! WB has a piddly few. I guess everybody wanted to be outdoors on a beautiful Sunday, not hanging out here.

If ever a hiker truly needed a feed, this is the hiker!

True, the hair is a bit longer than the average male's. But of course, the AT attracts a wide range of people.
And these days, it could be offensive to assign a gender to someone. Everyone who used gender pronouns in their post must repent.

On the other hand, the rear view of the hiker shows muscular boney legs, and a narrow waistline, typical of a male.

    Triffid
The triffid is a fictional tall, mobile, carnivorous plant species, created by John Wyndham in his 1951 novel The Day of the Triffids, which has since been adapted for film and television. The word "triffid" has become a common reference in British English to describe large, invasive or menacing-looking plants.

    From wikipedia
