Do you have a link to those canisters? IIRC they are used for some sort of hand-held torch.

With 70% propane the canister walls will need to be thicker, and I suppose some sort of adapter for Lindal.

As you may recall, David Thomas at BPL tested the copper HX strip in Alaska at -15°F. And I think he later tested it down to -25°F.

Yes, I recall that. The copper strip is everyones best way to go for very low temps. Glad you came up with that clever way to make canisters work in frigid temperatures!

The canisters have a lindal valve, no adaptor needed.

I'd love to try that copper strip trick...but I'm not sure my Jetboil will be very accommodating.

Right after I posted, I moused around the internet for a second and found some photo examples. I have a Sol that I use a lot, and it does look like it could work. I might give this a try this winter.

Then again, it might take me all winter to find the right piece of copper.....

Not sure about the Sol, but the design of the Flash pot support doesn't allow the strip to pass through, at least not without some modification.

This is what I've been using for a long time. Maybe buy a roll and share cost with friends?

Over the years I've given away approx 2 rolls of this but with the cost+postage+time I now keep only a small amount in reserve for my own use.

Thanks for the link...a bit out of my range, though. I'll keep my eyes open and keep asking around (and I need to take a close look at that Sol.)

Just for the strip and attachment band, (if using silicone wrist band for small canister) about 22 grams, 19g for the strip and 3g for wristband. Longer strips for large canisters weigh approx 26 grams and a few grams more for the taller stoves.

Also, if you're interested in the lightest setup that I've ever seen with an efficient HX pot, here's a link.

14oz for stove+pot+lid+fuel... lighter than some alcohol combos.

Try this, which it is based on the Ocelot plate by FlatCatGear.

Uses the Sterno Inferno pot and the Fire Maple FMS300T stove to complete the kit.

I'd just go by feel. If they started feeling light or I had a long stretch between resupply I'd pick up another canister while still using the old one until it was good and empty.

Wondering if this copper sheet would work (snipped into appropriate length, of course); product description states it is 10.3 x 4.4 x 0.2 inches.... ?

That might work. I've heard of people using flashing, or even copper tube flattened with a hammer. I personally haven't tested these things.

Mine is made of flashing, trimmed to size. Not sure how thick.
