Driving directions to Springer Mt. from the north

Hi All...I am starting a LASH in a couple of weeks from the Springer Mt. parking lot on FS42. i was at Amicalola Falls SP last week and got a sheet of paper from them with driving directions to Springer from the SP. I believe this is the way to Springer from the south.
There was an entry this week in Guthooks saying don't drive to Springer from the south because of bad, rutty road conditions. Drive to Springer from the north instead...the road is in much better shape if you drive from the north.
Can anyone tell me how to get to Springer parking lot from the north? Don't want to drive my car on the bad, rutty road...any info would be much appreciated...

Approach the trailhead from the west on FS42. I would highly recommend not trying to come from the East via Winding Stair Gap Road to FS42. I have done it both ways and one is fine, the other is a huge mistake. Winding Stair Gap Road is absolutely terrible and even in a 4-wheel drive jeep, I bottomed out multiple times while barely moving.

Thanks, I see where the directions I got from Amicalola Falls State Park is the directions from the west, which is the better road...

Go in off doublegap road across from tbe church on fs42.
