    Congrats Kristian! An incredible effort!

I think we learned from this attempt that anyone who wants to take the record is going to need a solid lead going into the Whites. Karel Sabbe absolutely crushed it in NH and ME.
It's all good in the woods.

    Congrats Kristian!
A spectacular effort, something to be proud of.

I couldn't imagine doing this in my dreams, much less for real.

Interesting to learn that's new information for someone from Maine.

It was nice to see someone continue the attempt after knowing they wouldn't break the record.
Most of these people quit once the record is ruled out.

I would think they just made an exception. Clearly not dealing with a garden variety thru here

If the Ranger's not on duty, or unavailable, ATers just sign out at the trailhead like every other hiker.
People night hike Katahdin almost every day when the weather's nice. During a full moon, clear skies, or a meteor shower there can be dozens of folks up top. No rule against it.
