    Default Important bridge closure.

As of now the Arden Valley Road Bridge at NY Rt 17 is closed to foot traffic. If maintainence truck is there worker may have details or alternatives. Hikers can cross NYS Thruway south of there on Nurian Trail.

Is the Elk Pen parking area still open? I'm supposed to start a section hike there next month.
It's all good in the woods.

    Answered my own question: https://appalachiantrail.org/trail-u...n-valley-road/

Summary: You can still drive to the Elk Pen parking area from the east by detouring through Harriman State Park.
It's all good in the woods.

The bridge is back open for foot traffic and bicycles as of 8-16-21.
Which is a good thing, as that detour looked annoying, plus I wouldn't want anyone to be deprived of the experience of hiking the section known as "Agony Grind"

Vehicles must still access the Elk Pen parking area from the east.
