    Default Art Loeb Dec hike

My brother and I are planning to hike the Art Loeb after we meet up for Christmas. Was wondering if anyone had any updates on water?

Also, bonus points for any good recommendations on parking spots. Apparently some are still out of commission from Tropical Storm Fred :/

    Thanks all!

You will need to keep an eye on Parkway closures this time of year.

This is the link to the Pisgah District road season closures.

If hiking the ALT in winter, expect and plan for no road access along the route. Parking only available at each end.

Water along the ALT: Get it when you see it. It was not very good tasting water at many sources, may want to bring some flavoring.

Here is my write up from the ALT back in Winter of 2017:
Completion of the Art Loeb Trail - Things I wish I knew before Hand

    Trail Miles: 4,980.5
    AT Map 1: Complete 2013-2021
    Sheltowee Trace: Complete 2020-2023
    Pinhoti Trail: Complete 2023-2024
    Foothills Trail: 47.9
    AT Map 2: 279.4
    BMT: 52.7
    CDT: 85.4

I can't imagine what the windchills would be on the balds.
