    Default freestanding tent (bivy shape)

I'd like to find my favorite doomsday tent.

    tolerances:

    1. Indoors
      1. peak height: 18-36 inches
      2. 60-120% the space in a Eureka Solitaire

    2. fits 2 people

    features:
    1. camouflaged
    2. a vestibule for shoes and hanging socks
    3. free standing
    4. I'd like a better way to store my pack for more theft security. I put it outside under its cover.

I have a Eureka Solitaire. The Alpkit Elan and Snugpak Stratosphere look top heavy and have no vestibule. Otherwise, they might be what I'm looking for.

Can you clarify what you mean by "top heavy" ?

I don't know of a shelter that has all of the features you are after so I am trying to figure out what the nearest would be.

I don't see a Tarptent that has the specs Cabbagehead wants but as I already commented I cannot think of one shelter that does .
There is a design that would do it if light weight material were used but as it was it would be too heavy.

Those strike me as contradictory. 60% of the space in a Eureka Solitaire can't fit 2 people, even if 1 is a baby. Was that a typo? Was it supposed to be 90%? Even so, that's tight, one would have to be a baby, or you two would have to sleep in a position which we could call "continuously synchronized spooning." Not to mention no room for a pack inside for "more theft security". I think you're going to have to relax your constraints significantly to get into a space where there are actually products offered that meet the revised wish list.

When you say Doomsday tent I think survivalist more than backpacker. Not sure I would want to be "surviving" more than a couple nights with only a bivy and I regularly use a bivy.

My suggestion would be a Tarp. Lots of coverage for two people with room for gear and plenty of camo options. While not freestanding a couple of hiking poles (or branches) allows it to be staked out A-frame style. Or string a ridgeline between two trees and stake the sides. I use this tarp...

Supplement the tarp with a Bivy to alleviate any issues or fears of bugs or creepy crawly creatures. Great for Cowboy camping on clear nights. I use this bivy...

When you combine the Tarp and Bivy you have a very practical and reasonably lightweight solution to most issues you mention. Fast setup and takedown if you are trying to outrun the Zombies.

A search for Camouflage tents doesn’t yield very many choices.
Perhaps a camouflage tarp AND a Bivy is the answer.
If one understands the definition of Bivouac you begin to wonder why people would want to spend much time in a Bivy.
Lightheart Gear has a nice camouflage tent on sale.

The closest tents I know of to fitting those specs are mil-surplus. If you can find one in stock, something like this might be similar enough to fit the bill:

BTW, when I replied the tread was towards the top so I did not realise it was 4 months old. Still for what I know the OP could still be alive.

vinyl blackout liner. You can use your flashlight inside it all you want and so long as it's zipped up, no light escapes.
