Thread: Charlotte, NC

    Default Charlotte, NC

I'm planning my drive to hike a section of the AT and will be passing through Charlotte, NC. It appears I77 goes through the middle of Charlotte, while I485 goes right by the airport. Which route typically has less traffic? I have a toll transponder if that matters.

    Thank you.

    2AM.
Charlotte is a name on the map.
The traffic starts in South Carolina and continues to Statesville.
How far north are you planning to go before hitting the AT?
    Wayne

During morning rush hours and beginning at 3pm in the afternoon, taking the loop around the west side might be less stressful and maybe quicker. Going straight through via I-77 is shorter unless you get traffic. The "express" (aka toll lanes) are almost never busy.
