That first photo shows the space between your wind screen and the pot looks perfect for allowing the flames and heat to come right up the pot for maximum heat gain of function
The design is evolving. When using the Fancee Feest stove, air seems to be entering under the handles. That's a win....keeps the handles cooler.
This stove is working realy well with the windscreen/pot combo. 2 cups boiled with 3 grams fuel, non scientific tests.
You HAVE to have a windscreen with a canister stove. There's no question. If you don't you loose too much heat, and waste fuel...
The only windscreen I've ever liked is the thick metal foil from my 1970's vintage MSR mountaineering stove. But you can't get this stuff anymore, I've asked everybody. But it keeps going and going...
