Hiking North From Bear Mountain, NY

After fifteen years of section hiking on the AT, tomorrow I start the final 800 mile section from Bear Mountain in New York to Mt Katahdin in Maine. Hoping.to finish in about two months. Really looking forward to starting my hike!

Great that you have around 400 miles of NY, CT, MA, and VT to get your trail legs before you hit NH and ME.

Nice (haha!) climb from the Housatonic River up to Schaghticoke Mtn where NY gets in one last reminder that it ain't a gimmee!

Oh yeah! I did it with an old frame pack and nearly got pushed down it because the pack had a lower lip. Was hard.
