    Not sure about the water?
Depending on the length of your hike, your best best is to call the hostels along the way, Greasy Creek (if CC is still up and running?) , 19E, Mountain Harbour, Boots Off, etc and make sure they are open, unfortunately several of these places close down in the Fall & show no love for the Bad Ass sobo's

Also, if your going all the way to Damascus or beyond, Lone Wolf who frequents here, does shuttles to and from there.

After Hurricane Ian, there should be plenty of water.

I will say Watauga Lake to Damascus tends to be the dryer of the section.

How close to the shelter? There is a camp spot just a few yards north of the shelter to your right[NOBO]. There are others but I'm not sure how far away you mean.

    Just back.
    Good hike.
    Lots of SOBO's finishing up.
Caught the rain and cold and microfine hail this time.... OH. Well.
Going back again in the spring.
Is there a resupply place - to pick up in Hampton?

RediMart, Dollar General, and Browns right in Hampton.

Elizabethton is a short drive from Hampton but has more groceries and a Walmart.

Boots Off, Black Bear, or Kincora are good hostels.

FYI - The Watauga lakeshore section is bear area and camping is restricted.

There’s Braemar’s Castle Hostel in Hampton. Sutton Brown was the owner/ operator when I stayed there.
Quiet clean place and Sutton also was owner of a grocery in town.

Probably not if you eat ramen, oatmeal, and tortillas on trail. There is camping close to Hampton in both directions if you want to carry perishables out of town.
Hot water, hot ramen, burning alcohol, all in my lap

Yes.... Hot water - Ramen - Oatmeal - tortillas on the trail.
No time to stop and shop.

Need someplace to mail my supplies to and just pick up in Hampton.
