After two aborted September attempts in '17 and '21 I decided to see if June was more suited to my tastes. A bit of a rocky start after pushing too hard on Day 2, but eventually I found my way to MA.

In '17 there was a really odd heat wave that knocked me off trail. Second day on trail it was 88° unexpectedly and I got sick in the heat. Spent a few days waiting it out in a hotel, but the forecast kept getting worse. It stayed hot for weeks, but I went home after a few days because I can't deal with mountains and heat

In '21 I had really bad issues with SAD. August was tropical so we hid out in the house a lot. I was a bit off when I started but after a week on trail it didn't seem safe to be out there. I wasn't focused on the task at hand.

Sept is really beautiful in VT and if you enjoy a social hike that month is one of the most popular so you will have plenty of company. Lots of nice folks out there.
