Parking & Road to Dally Gap

I am planning a short section hike on the BMT next month. The plan is to leave my car at Dally Gap for 3-4 days and hike back to it.
What shape is the road into Dally Gap coming from Blue Ridge? I have a passenger car and want to be sure I can drive there. I've seen some Forest Roads that are roads in name only. Also, is it safe to park there? Curious if anyone has heard of problems with break-ins at the parking area.

It’s a gravel road with some pot holes but any car can get there, I’ve driven it in a Prius. So you should be good.

Never heard of break-ins there specifically but you never know. It’s pretty deep in woods.

Starting a trip out of Dally Gap gives you the opportunity to take different trails in the Cohutta/Big Frog Wilderness on the way back, if you’re feeling adventurous and up for a detour. Happy to help with planning if that would be something you’re interested in. Enjoy your trip.
