Default Backpacking the Allegheny Front Trail-East Loop

    https://endlessmountains.wordpress.com/2023/05/31/backpacking-the-allegheny-front-trail-east-loop/

I backpacked the 31 mile east loop of the Allegheny Front Trail in the Moshannon State Forest. This is a beautiful loop that offers a lot of diversity, with vistas, meadows, ferns, lake, bog, boardwalks, great camping, streamside hiking, rhododendron tunnels, and wildflowers. I think it is one of the most rewarding loops in the Mid Atlantic. The section along the vistas was rugged, but the remainder of the trail was mild. I saw many painted trilliums and pink lady slippers. The mountain laurel was about to bloom and the azaleas filled the air with a sweet aroma. If you're looking for a new place to backpack, check out this loop.

Having hiked the entire trail[east and west] I agree with your assessments. Beautiful, peaceful, not too heavily traveled.
