I'm compiling a history of LT/AT shelters in Vermont. If you hiked the AT in the 70's you may have a picture of an unofficial shelter known as teh "The Hobbit". It was built as a playhouse for kids and located just off the AT, where it crossed Rt 12 in Vermont. The AT was later moved.
If you have a picture of the Hobbit, please forward a copy to me.
